Home of NZART Branch 18

NZART Branch 18 is Lower Hutt's Amateur Radio Club

We are Branch 18 of the New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters (NZART) and our call-sign is ZL2HV.

Amateur Radio (ham radio) is a popular hobby and service that brings people, electronics and communication together. People use ham radio to talk across town, around the world, or even into space, all without the Internet or cell phones. It's fun, social, and educational, and can be a lifeline during times of need.

Find out more on how to become licensed on the NZART website.

Jamboree on the air is a Scouting event working on the radio and helping youth talk about Scouting. This is on Labour weekend 21st and 22nd October at the Belmont Scout Den, Norfolk Street, Belmont Domain.

Both days are split into 2,  21st October Saturday 10 to 1pm and 1pm to 5pm.   And on the Sunday 22nd  10 to 1pm and 1pm to 4pm.  If you can help out with one slot it would be great. 1 to 2 people are needed for each slot. (or more per slot) There is also the chance to work from your home QTH at these times slots so that if there is no action on the radio, we can call you at home for someone to talk to the youth. Any assistance with the set up and help running the station would be greatly appreciated.

All food will be provided including a piece of birthday cake.  Dinner on Saturday will also be provided if you wanted to stay for that.

Many thanks for considering to help.  Please contact Marie, ZL2JOTA if you are able to help.

Yours in Scouting

Marie Smolnicki
